Two of the lab's 2023 papers just won most cited awards!
The first, “Evenness mediates the global relationship between forest productivity and richness” published in Journal of Ecology, used a dataset of forests from across the globe, which includes composition, biomass accumulation and net primary productivity, to explore whether productivity correlates with community evenness and richness in a way that evenness appears to buffer the effect of richness.
The second, “Global patterns and environmental drivers of forest functional composition” published in Global Ecology and Biogeography, aimed to determine the relationships between the functional trait composition of forest communities and environmental gradients across scales and biomes and the role of species relative abundances in these relationships. Two PaqLab alumni, Elise Bouchard (primary author and former MSc student) and Eric Searle (former postdoc) are among the authors.
