Juan Posada (pictured) and Shan Kothari have been doing fieldwork at IDENT-Montreal and the Montreal Botanical Garden to measure the gas exchange and reflectance spectra of tree and shrub species. The goal of the project is to test whether the spectra of fresh and pressed leaves can be used to predict photosynthesis and other aspects of plant physiology.

With the leaves starting to turn, the fieldwork season is just about finished. Now it's on to the lab work for sample analysis!
