Looking to strengthen the resilience of your urban forests to disturbances and climate change? Trying to enhance ecosystem services and the health of your citizens? Looking for ways to integrate biodiversity into your urban forest management strategies while taking into account the realities and constraints of the urban environment? Trying to find a way to maximize the impact of your interventions with limited budgets? Don't know where to start to achieve your objectives? These topics and more are addressed in the various workshops offered by the PaqLab!
The PaqLab has been offering biannual workshops in partnership with the Société Internationale d'Arboriculture - Québec Inc (SIAQ) since 2019, as well as private training with companies, organizations and municipalities on request. Our "classic" workshop (3 hours) covers a functional approach to forest management with the aim of making the urban forest more resilient and adaptable to climate change. It covers its application within the urban environment, the benefits and ecosystem services it brings, how to overcome the current limitations faced by urban forest managers, and more. It also includes a simple management tool (on Excel), developed by the lab, to help calculate and compare tree diversity. A multitude of topics can be added to this workshop, such as, but not limited to:
If you are interested in an urban forestry workshop, whether focused on a topic listed above or not, please contact us (paqlab@uqam.ca) to discuss how we can meet your needs. We're here to help you make our urban forests more sustainable, beneficial and resilient for current and future generations!
