Urban Nature-Based Solutions: Cross sectorial engagement
Elyssa participated in a workshop at Concordia University, co-hosted by Carly Ziter (Concordia) and Barbara Frei (ECCC) which aimed to bring people together from multiple sectors to discuss barriers to cross-sectorial collaboration and brainstorm solutions to overcome them. It was an illuminating and enriching experience to be able to listen to the different perspectives and experiences of people from federal and municipal governments, indigenous groups, NGOs, academic institutions, as well as private and community organizations, all working in the urban environment, and reflect on what role academia may be playing in creating some of these barriers. The PaqLab and the Urban Forest Research Chair have always prided themselves on fostering a multi-disciplinary, cross-sectorial network of collaborators on our research initiatives – and this workshop has only inspired us to do more!
